Will De Ritter is a London-based filmmaker working with celluloid film and photochemicals to produce films which tread a fine line between experimental and genre movies. His work is often interested in the specifics and textures of place, examining how shadows of traumatic events can linger for millenia. His recent research has been focused on processing expired films in ecologically sustainable solutions, fulfilling the potential of long-neglected emulsions. As a curator, Will has been collaborating with Barking Community Cinema to establish a community darkroom, providing a space and platform for local residents to experiment with analogue film production and research. His work has been included in exhibitions, screenings and publications for WNDX Festival of Moving Image (Canada), Festival Obskura (France), FluxusMuseum (Greece), Baltic Analog Lab (Latvia), and Analog Cookbook (USA).
